Pennsylvania is one of a handful of states that were seen as vital to Trump’s election victory in 2016 when he became the first Republican presidential candidate to carry the state since George H.W. Bush in 1988. With 20 electoral college votes and viewed as in play by both parties, it is widely seen as one of the key battlegrounds for 2020, as well.
With Republicans holding large voter registration edges in central Pennsylvania, places like Camp Hill, Hershey and Williamsport are seen by the Trump campaign as fertile ground to motivate his supporters and grow grassroots strength.
